What is a Payment Pre-Authorisation Hold?
A pre-authorisation is essentially a temporary hold placed by a merchant on a customers credit card and reserves funds for future payment transactions. Happicabs pre-authorises your payment card before every trip you request, for the estimated fare amount to make sure you have sufficient funds available in order to pay for your ride.
When booking your Happicab ride, if the validation of the card fails you will receive a message stating that authorisation has failed. You can try using another card or choose another payment method in order to make sure you can still get a taxi ride.
You cannot book a Happicab ride unless you have successfully completed the pre-authorisation hold stage either by online web booker, app or pay link sent via text message when booking by telephone.
Does this apply to both debit and credit card?
Yes, the pre-authorisation applies to both debit and credit cards.
