REQUIREMENTS TO DRIVE WITH US

Age

You have to be over 25 years of age with a minimum of 1 year driving experience.

Drivers license

To work with Happicabs we require a full UK driving license, but remember you'll also need the relevant local private hire licence as well.

Fluent English

Can you clearly understand the needs of your passenger? Good communication is vital to creating an outstanding experience for our customers.

Excellent service

Happicabs has grown through offering a great car service with the customer needs in mind. If you can offer customers a great service we’d love to speak to you.

Screening process

The screening process includes a DBS and Police check. We carry out these checks to comply with regulation and to ensure our customers are safe with us.

Once you have completed the training and you are a certified Happi driver, you will download the driving app and sign in with your unique credentials.

Once in the app, tap on "Sign In". You are now ready to receive bookings! When you get a ride booking, you'll see the pickup location and choose to accept or reject it based on your availability.

If you have accepted a booking, the app will guide you to the pick-up location. Tap "Arrive" when you have reached the Customer. Customers get a notification of your arrival including real-time tracking of your vehicle.

The app supports Google navigation to guide you to the Customer’s destination. The customer could also guide you to the destination.

Yay! Once you have dropped off the customer your ride is complete and your earnings are reflected directly on to your Happicabs app. You can collect cash for most rides, while for card and account based payments, Happicabs will pay you for the ride.

FAQ

DO I WORK SET SHIFTS?

Happicabs driver jobs are completely flexible. Work the hours that suit you best. There are periods during the week where we are busier. During the week, we are particularly busy during the early morning and evening periods and at weekends we are very busy later in the evening.

DO I NEED TO PROVIDE MY OWN VEHICLE?

You do not need to worry about a vehicle. A vehicle is provided to you by Happicabs. All Happicabs vehicles are typically less than 4 years old and are regularly maintained by a partner company.

This means that the hassle of organising insurance, MOT, PHV checks, repairs or replacement vehicle will be taken care of for you, allowing you to stay on the road and never miss an opportunity to earn more money.

HOW DO I GET PAID?

Customers pay for their journeys in two ways, so there are two ways we pay you.

Account and Card transactions

Account and Card customers pay us directly via their accounts. We’ll add this money up and settle this with you each week.

Non-Account transactions

These are cash jobs and are settled on a daily basis.

WHAT EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?

Above all, we look for enthusiasm and reliability in drivers. Experience with private hire driver jobs is not necessary, but a good working knowledge of the local area is required. You will need to apply for a Chelmsford City Council, Uttlesford District Council or Maldon District Council taxi drivers badge and be able to speak English.

WHO ARE HAPPICABS?

We’re the best car service in Essex. Starting in 1958 we have built our private hire business to transport over 500,000 passengers a year. We’ve recently opened our Maldon and Stansted office, and are continuing to expand our operation across Essex.

WILL I BE SELF-EMPLOYED?

Yes. All Happicabs drivers are self-employed and responsible for their own tax and national insurance.

WHAT DOCUMENTS WILL YOU NEED FROM ME?

Documents required include but are not limited to: UK Driving Licence, National Insurance ID, Utility Bill, Passport or Birth Certificate. If you have a Taxi badge, we will require a taxi badge certificate and your badge. If you do not have one, please sign up and our recruitment team can speak to you on how we can help you get one.

WHEN CAN I START DRIVING?

As soon as you have completed your registration process and training, you will be approved and can immediately start earning.

DO I RECEIVE TRAINING?

We have an in-house training team who will take care of your training. It’s free.

I HAVE A FULL-TIME JOB; CAN I WORK ON MY OWN SCHEDULE IN MY SPARE TIME?

Of course, we have many teachers, freelancers, professionals and part-time parents who love the flexibility here at Happicabs. You don’t work for us, we work together here at Happicabs.
